Often, people turn to counselling or therapy in times of crisis, or because they’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or burnt out.
Others come, not because they’re at breaking point but because they want to process something they can’t quite name, or they want to explore long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling or behaving that they can sense are limiting them in some way; in their quality of relationships, their sense of wellbeing, their access to a sense of calm, connection or joy. Perhaps limiting their ability to really enjoy living.
Whatever brings you, I offer therapy that’s kind, collaborative, and grounded. I’m committed to creating a space where you don’t need to have it all figured out, and I’ll meet you wherever you’re at.
Counselling and psychotherapy are closely related, but they can serve slightly different purposes: counselling often focuses on supporting people through specific difficulties or life challenges, while psychotherapy tends to explore patterns at a deeper level, including how past experiences shape present thoughts, feelings, and relationships.
In practice, there is a lot of overlap, and the approach we take together will depend on your needs and what feels most helpful for you.
In case it’s useful to you, find below some examples of common issues clients may bring:
- Anxiety, stress or burnout
- Addiction
- Eating disorders
- Low mood or depression
- Loneliness or low self-esteem
- Relationship difficulties or attachment issues
- Family tension or drama in friendship groups
- Trauma or painful past experiences
- Shame, guilt or self-doubt
- Grief or loss
- Obsessive thoughts or stuck patterns
- A desire for growth, reflection or change
This list isn’t exhaustive. If you’d like to understand whether working with me could support you, I offer a complimentary 15 minute phone call for us to say hello, discuss whatever’s bringing you and to answer any questions you may have.
After that, if you’d like to move forwards, and if I feel I’m a good fit to support you, we’ll book an initial consultation session.
If we don’t feel we’re the right fit, or if I know a different modality or approach would better meet your needs, I’ll signpost you to a trusted colleague or organisation who is more aligned.
Hello, my name is Louisa. I'm currently a third-year trainee in advanced clinical practice offering Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and counselling. I’m training on an accredited Level 7 course out in beautiful West Wales.
I’m registered with UKCP and am in regular professional supervision.
In my therapy practice I care deeply about creating a safe, warm and non-judgemental space that allows clients to put down their ‘heavy stuff’, unravel a bit if needed, and that invites gentle discovery of who they truly are, their inner resilience, sense of choicefulness, and empowerment.
Transactional Analysis (TA) is an accessible, powerful, and comprehensive theoretical model that my work is rooted in. How much that shows up explicitly in our work is tailored to your needs. Whether you're interested in exploring the theory behind your experiences or simply need a supportive, empathetic and - at times - gently challenging presence, I adapt our work to what feels most helpful for you.

Prior to training in psychotherapy I worked for 10 years in the arts, in education, and more recently as a consultant working with businesses on their communication culture.
My interest in therapy grew as a result of my own life-changing experiences working with a psychotherapist from 2018 onwards. I believe wholeheartedly in the potential of psychotherapy and counselling to significantly enhance our quality of life.
I am committed to and held by the Ethical code of EATA (European Association of Transactional Analysts).
As well as being a member of EATA, I am also a member of UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy), the ITAA (The International Transactional Analysis Association and UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysts).
I offer online sessions from the comfort of your own sofa. All you need is a solid wifi connection and a space that can reliably offer you confidentiality for the session duration.
I also offer in-person sessions in a comfortable, welcoming therapy room in central Cardiff, easily accessible to clients from Penarth, Sully, Barry, Dinas Powys, and across the Vale of Glamorgan.
10 Park Grove, Cardiff, CF10 3BN
Counselling or psychotherapy sessions for individuals last 50 minutes and usually take place on a weekly basis. My fee is £40 per session, payable by BACS.
I work with clients between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. Please contact me for current availability.
If you are a student, trainee, or on a low-income, feel free to enquire about my reduced rate.
Please note that I require 48 hours notice for cancellations. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be charged.

Transactional Analysis (TA) offers a rich and robust theory of personality, relationship, and communication. Psychotherapy is one powerful way in which this framework can support people, but there are many other possible applications.
Alongside my clinical work, I also use TA-informed thinking (alongside prior experience in Restorative Practice and verbal communication) in organisational and business settings.
Through Confidently There, I offer consultancy, facilitation and training to support healthier, more robust communication cultures, and leadership that’s relational, people-focused and performance-enhancing.

Please note: to maintain ethical boundaries and avoid dual relationships, I do not work with psychotherapy clients in a consultancy capacity, and vice versa.

If you’d like to explore working together or arrange an initial appointment, I’d be glad to hear from you using the form below.
Our first session is a chance to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, for me to share a little about how we might work, and for us to see together whether it feels like the right fit.
You can get in touch using the contact form on this site.
I aim to reply within 24 hours, and all communication is treated with care and confidentiality.
